Simple pleasures #3

When you’re skint and the sun isn’t shining (welcome to Scotland!) it can seem hard to see the good things around you. I try hard to think positively and look forward to the simple pleasures in life, here are a few things that have kept me happy recently…

Summer salads

There really is no better time to eat healthily than during the summer months. Finally, pears are ripe, avocados are plump and tomatoes actually taste like tomatoes! I am really into making weird salad combinations at the moment, and the thought of it genuinely gets me excited throughout the day – sucks to be me, right? Well no, because I whipped up this warm garlic prawn salad with grilled peaches salad and it was particularly delicious. I hope my salad addiction continues into Autumn and Winter, but I have a sneaking suspicion I may start craving chocolate cake any minute.

Ginger beer

I’ve spent the last 27 years living a lie, thinking that I didn’t care for ginger beer in the slightest. What the hell have I been missing?! We were having drinks in Brew Dog at Kelvingrove the other night when Joe offered me a fancy diet ginger beer from the bar as we weren’t drinking booze. I don’t know what on earth possessed me to say yes, but it was like a party in my mouth and I was freakin loving it. Summer is all about ginger beer now. Nom.

Getting blog comments

Big shout out to anyone who has commented on my blog recently. It reminds me that there are a few people reading, and it encourages me to keep going and continue to write different posts. I know some bloggers comment to get you to look at their own blog, but thats OK too, it shows an attempt at fellow bloggers comunicating with each other in a positive way and I personally appreciate any comments I get. Why not share the love and leave me a comment below about your own simple pleasures?

  1. Sweet post, I like the idea of this. And ugh ginger beer has become my life too. There is a particular one I think I’m going to get hooked on but I can’t remember the brand. It’s organic too and mega fresh.
