Easy ‘No Bake’ Flapjacks

easy no bake flapjacks

See what I eat in a day here

Flapjacks are one of the easiest home-made treats around, but sometimes time gets away from me and I need a quick alternative. Well fortunately I’ve trialled (more than a few times…) this easy flapjack recipe which requires no oven, takes minutes to make and only an hour or two to set in the fridge. Interested? Read on…

WARNING: I try not to eat sugar, but sometimes I just give in to my cravings. I think its unreasonable to expect us to avoid treats at all times, so sorry, but this is not a healthy recipe!

You will need:
9 x 9 inch square pan lined with greaseproof paper
Large saucepan
100g butter
100g light brown sugar
200g porridge oats
50g chocolate chips

Step one:
Chop up the butter into chunks and slowly melt in a saucepan at a low heat. When the butter has melted stir in the sugar and cook for a further minute. Next, stir in all the porridge oats and ensure the ingredients are all mixed together well

Step two:
Transfer the mixture in to a lined square pan and spread out with a spatula or the back of a spoon. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and carefully press down the mixture. If you mix the chocolate chips through the warm oats they will melt, so doing it afterwards ensures they stay whole and add texture to the final product.

Step three:
Place the flapjacks in the fridge for 1-2 hours and they are ready to eat. Slice into chunks and serve with a cup of tea, or pop them into the freezer for emergency breakfasts or an afternoon treat! I like to eat a few then pass the rest onto family to save me scoffing the lot…

Will you be giving these a go?

  1. These are so easy, my daughter and i just made another batch but instead of the 200g of oats we changed things slightly. We used 150g of oats, 50g of dried berries and pumpkin seeds yummy.

  2. Tried these but they did not bind together when i tried to cut them they just fell apart into crumbs . I weighed everything carefully . The mixture tasted great .
