My week in fitness

1145470_10153102848060338_1651114680_oAnother week gone, as well as another month! Thank goodness that’s January out of the way and we can get on with a positive year. So as the gym quietens down again, of course I’ve still been visiting regularly. I am studying at the weekends to become a fitness instructor so my own workouts are happening Monday-Friday. As a result I’ve had a bit of an injury, nothing serious just a bit of back pain. I’m probably going to rest now until Tuesday in the hope that it settles down. Here’s what I’ve been up to:

Monday: I don’t usually do Body Pump on a Monday but I felt like mixing things up a bit. I was feeling inspired after my weekend studying to increase my weights after hearing the phrase “Change only comes from change”. Unfortunately I think this might have contributed to my back injury!

Tuesday: Tonight I gave Body Pump a miss and stuck with a 45 minute circuit class. It was great to get a full body workout, including kettlebell squats, bicep curls, bodyweight lunges, tricep dips and lots more! I worked a lot harder than usual so I was well chuffed.

Wednesday: Still loving my midweek Metafit session on a Wednesday, and this week was no different! I can’t remember the name of the workout but the moves included burpees, borrower squats, explosive jacks, press ups, two step dash, basically all the classic Metafit moves. As usual, I was dying afterwards. Desired effect achieved!

Thursday: I was desperate to get to Body Balance after enjoying last week’s class. I did a few basic lifts in the gym beforehand to warm up and headed in for the hour long class. I’m always surprised at how difficult it is just to hold a pose without moving! This release is particularly hard on the legs but its a good one. I think I hurt my back due to bad form but I’ll try and be better next week.

Friday: What better way to start the weekend that with a little “Caught in the Rip” from Metafit? This was a beast of a workout, and my quads were burning literally within minutes. Lots of core work tonight with hot hands, planks, burpees and mountain climbers. To top it off I stayed for Body Pump too but I kept my weights light because of my dodgy back. Here’s to a weekend of recovery!
