Chocolate berry proats

1611035_10153716368285338_1709520028_oFollowing on from my previous post I thought I’d show you my new favourite breakfast! After a few hours aimlessly scouring Pinterest I came across a protein rich breakfast option that I’d never heard of – ‘proats’. Big apologies if I’m super late to the party, but I had to google what they were! I read up on a recipe and thought I would be able to whip something up, and so the Chocolate Berry Proats were born!

Ingredients:

50g of porridge oats

unsweetened almond milk

1 egg white

mixed nuts and seeds

tablespoon of runny honey

tablespoon of 80% cocoa powder

a handful of dried cranberries and cherries

Method:

Chuck your porridge oats in a pot and cover with almond milk. Cook on a low heat for 5-6 minutes or until almost cooked. Add in the cocoa powder and stir through, cooking for another minute.

Take the pan off the heat and add the egg white. Quickly stir the porridge until the egg disappears. Finally, mix in as much honey as you need (the cocoa powder is quite rich and doesn’t add much sweetness) and top with dried fruit and nuts. Now scoff the lot!
